About HTML Decode

HTML entities like &, <, and ' are stand ins for characters that would otherwise be read as markup. Decoding turns them back into the ampersand, less than sign, and quote they represent.

This is useful when you copy content out of a web page or an API response and it arrives full of entity codes that you want to read or reuse as plain text.

How to Use

  1. Paste the encoded HTML or text with entities.
  2. Read the decoded, readable version in the output box.
  3. Click Copy to copy the result.
  4. Use the HTML Encode tool to go the other way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it handle numeric entities?

Yes. It decodes both named entities like & and numeric entities like ' and ', turning them back into the right character.

Is it safe to decode untrusted HTML here?

Yes. The tool only reads the text content of the entities and never runs any scripts, so decoding is safe.

Is my text private?

Yes. Decoding happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
